Sitting on Couch Dreaming of Running

I am laying on the couch my foot elevated and my last pain killer for the day wore off hours ago. I suppose there is no point in whining even though I could be really good at it right now.

My last run was on Sunday February 7th. I was on a 3 1/2 mile run when my ankle began to bother me. I kept pushing through thinking it would work itself out. I was almost home when a stabbing pain in my right foot brought me to a walk. By the time I reached the parking lot the pain had increased and Jessi had to help me into the house. Monday I was in the doctors where I was referred on to a Podiatrist. X-rays were taken and the final diagnoses was serious bruising and swelling in the muscle and bones in foot from overuse. My arches in both feet are collapsing and my right in danger of breaking again. Fun, fun. I was given a huge, heavy boot that I have to wear if I am on my feet and anti-inflammatories.

Despite the fact that I have been mostly careful about staying off it, things do not seem to be improving. The pain has been increasing and the pain killers are not doing a very good job of taking care of things.

The doctor took a mold of my feet and has ordered custom orthotics. He believes I will be able to run after we can get things calmed down and work with helping ease pressure off of them. I see him again in 3 weeks.

Matt has a 3 day weekend and has grounded me to the couch. I am grateful that he cares about me so much. The Olympics have been helping me not get too bored. Keanu and I are also trying to make it through all six movies on Star Wars Lego Wii. My kids are amazing and take such good care of me. They get me anything I ask for from food and drink down to making beds for me and helping put my boot on when I get up.

I am hoping for a less painful nights sleep tonight.
